Dr. Nathan Holtzberg, Anesthesiology/Pain Management Specialist, brings many years of experience to OI in his position as a Pain Management Specialist. Dr. Holtzberg currently practices all modalities of pain management including medication, anesthesia blocks, cryo- ablation, percutaneous discectomy, radiofrequency ablation and implantable devices (spinal cord stimulators and subarachnoid infusion pumps). Dr. Holtzberg’s services provide treatment for all forms of pain including back pain, headaches, facial pain and neck pain as well as cancer pain. Additionally, Dr. Holtzberg is a certified and licensed acupuncturist.
Prior to joining OIBO, Dr. Holtzberg was an associate at Connecticut Pain Care in Danbury, Connecticut. Dr. Holtzberg has research experience which includes: Mt. Sinai Medical Center – “Evaluation of the VAS Pain Scale as an Accurate reflection of Patients’ Pain Control in Post-Op Patients”: Mt. Sinai Medical Center – “Does the Epidural Fentanyl Plus Bupivacaine Allow for an Earlier Return of Bowel Function after Colorectal Surgery as Compared to PCA Fentanyl”: Columbia University College of Physician and Surgeons- “The Effects of Nutrition on Endogenous Opiate Receptor.”
Dr. Holtzberg is a member of American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Pain Society, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Monmouth County Medical Society. Dr. Holtzberg’s extensive experience and superior training provides his patients with an expansive and progressive approach to the treatment of pain. His philosophy on the management of pain takes into account each patient’s individuality and personal requirements for particularized courses of treatment.
Dr. Holtzberg’s training included both a fellowship in pain management ACGME certified program as well as a residency in anesthesiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York in addition to a surgical internship at New York University Medical Center in New York.
